The Association of Business Management Academics (ABMA) is the recognized professional organization in the Business and Management industry. The ABMA welcomes Business and Management professional to join. Members should meet the membership qualification and comply with the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.

    Background of ABMA¡@

    The Association of Business Management Academics (ABMA) has been founded and established as a prestigious United Kingdom professional body with worldwide centers in United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau and China.¡@

    It was originally established in 1998 as "The Faculty of Chartered Corporate Secretaries and Administrators" and recently restructured as "The Association of Business Management Academics" to cope with its global development. (Incorporated Number 263496)¡@

    The Association subscribes to the Professional Code of Management Charter Initiative (MCI), a British Government-supported organization dedicated to raising and enhancing management standards in commerce, industry and the professions.

    ABMA is a not-for-profit organization for Asia-Pacific Business and Management professionals. We focus on developing the Business and Management professional market with a global presence in the industry. In addition, we help our members harness the unrivaled power of networking, giving you access to the most experienced specialists in your Business and Management field.

    ABMA Mission¡@

    • The missions of ABMA are: To encourage and improve the administrative and general knowledge of persons engaged in commerce, industry and the professions, and to provide advice and assistance in the solution of business problems.

    • To promote the science and practice of business management and entrepreneurial skills.

    • To develop an interest, through research and study, in all matters relating to business and commerce, especially in the field of international trade, finance and business exchange.
    • To encourage studies of the worldwide economic and political developments, and their influence on business and commerce.

    • To promote in overseas countries an awareness of facilities existing in the United Kingdom for the provision of business and technical knowledge, education and research.

    To encourage ABMA award holders to widen and further their specific skills into the broader fields of management, decision making and risk taking.

    Member Responsibilities

    All members must commit to the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of the Association, pay the required annual membership fees and abide by the Constitution of the Association. All annual subscriptions shall be due and payable in advance on 1st January in each year.

    ABMA HK & Macau Membership Requirements¡@

    Subject to the other prescribed requirements being fulfilled, membership of certain other professional bodies and/or the possession of a recognized University Degree in Business or Management will be approved by the Admissions Committee as acceptable for election to membership. Each case will be considered on its individual merits.¡@

    Any candidate who has passed an examination or has obtained an educational qualification from another professional institution may, on production of satisfactory evidence, apply to have it accepted as a qualification for membership.¡@

    Candidates proposed for or seeking admission to any class of membership of the Association shall be elected by an Admissions Committee, and the election shall be decided by majority vote of the Committee. In general, the criteria are as follows:¡@

    Recognized university degree in business or management discipline /passed the required qualification examinations of the Association. In addition, the applicant must satisfy the Council of the Association that he/she is in all other respects a fit and proper person to be admitted to the membership.

    The applicant must provide evidence of employment with a period of not less than eight years in management level in business field.

    Constitution¡@

    The Association with all its property and funds (whether derived from subscriptions or otherwise) is managed and controlled by the Board of Management which appoints the Executive Committee and delegates to such Committee such powers only. No member of the Association is liable for anything beyond his/her subscription, nor is he/she entitled to any right, privilege or service other than those set out herein.¡@

    The Association shall consist of Fellows, Full, Associate and Student Members. The Association shall also issue Professional Certificates and Diploma in Business Management Studies and other Professional Certification designations. Unauthorized use of the Association Title and/or designation letters is prohibited and may at the discretion of the Association and/or Council lead to appropriate legal action.

    Code of Conduct and Professional Practice¡@

    All holders of our awards are required to abide by our Code of Conduct and Professional Practice as follows:

    • Members will use a professional approach to serve their customers with integrity, competence, confidentiality and objectivity at all times.

    • Members will only accept assignments which they posses the expertise to perform and will ensure that before accepting any engagement, a mutual understanding of the objectives, scope and fee arrangements has been established.

    • To fully discharge efficiently and honorably the duties inherent in the conduct of their work.

    • To disclose to their employers or business associates any conflict of interests which may prevent them from carrying out their duties fully and honorably.

    • To respect the confidentiality of information which comes to them in the course of their work or employment.

    • To ensure that all agreements and contracts are clearly stated without room for doubt or misunderstanding. All contracts should be honored fully, subject only to alternation by mutual agreement of all parties.

    • To act at all times in a manner which reflects and maintains the professional standards required from ABMA award holders.
